    27. Taxes: all you need to know - Taxes: all you need to know

At Funnypigs, you have to pay tax every fortnight: on the 1st and 15th of the month.
A message with the amount due is sent to your "Events" page to warn you that it's time to pay your taxes. You have 4 days to click on the link and pay up.

If you don't pay within 4 days, the amount due plus a 25% penalty fee will automatically be levied. If you don't have enough Kekos in your account, Funnypigs' Inland Revenue will seize the bonuses you have in your barn and those you put up for sale at the market, your fields and your machines. You won't be able to get them back.
So make sure you pay your taxes in time.

There are two types of taxes: capital gains tax and corporation tax.

    - Capital gains tax:

Level 1 players are exempted from capital gains tax.
The amount of tax you have to pay depends on what you own: fields, silos and farming machines such as tanks, tractors, trailers, harvesters, slurry machines and pits - and also slaughterhouse machines at level 4.
Please note that taxes and grants are tax-exempt. They are not included in your expenses or your earnings.

    Tax rates:

    Level 2:
Tractors, harvesters, trailers, slurry machines, slurry pits and tanks: average worth = 115 Kekos, tax rate = 15%.
Fields: worth = 2,000 Kekos, tax rate = 6%. Your first field is exempted from tax. Say you have
4 fields for instance: you will pay tax on only 3 of them.

    Level 3:
Silos, tractors, harvesters, trailers, slurry machines, slurry pits and tanks: average worth =
    105 Kekos, tax rate = 30%.
Fields: worth = 2,000 Kekos, tax rate = 6%. Your first field is exempted from tax. Say you have
4 fields for instance, you will pay tax on only 3 of them.
    Building surface: worth = 1.5 Kekos per sq.m., tax rate = 9%.

    Level 4 and higher:
Silos, tractors, harvesters, trailers, slurry machines, slurry pits and tanks: average worth =
    105 Kekos, tax rate = 30%.
Fields: worth = 2,000 Kekos, tax rate = 6%. Your first field is exempted from tax. Say you have
4 fields for instance, you will pay tax on only 3 of them.
    Building surface: worth = 1.5 Kekos per sq.m., tax rate = 9%.
Slaughterhouse machines: worth = 2,500 Kekos, tax rate = 8%.

    Example:
You are at Level 2, you own a tractor, a trailer, a slurry machine and a slurry pit. The average worth per item is 118 Kekos.
    118 x 4 = 472 Kekos.
472 x 15% = 70.8. That's the amount (in Kekos) of capital gains tax that you owe.

    - Corporation tax (all levels):

Every time you buy an item at the market or sell your slurry or your crops to the cooperative... every time you buy or sell, to cut a long story short, the amount spent or earned is added to your expenses or your earnings respectively.
Every fortnight, your expenses are deducted from your earnings. The result makes up your "profit". If your profit exceeds 1,000 Kekos, a 16% tax rate applies on your entire profit. If you're in deficit, you are exempted from corporation tax. But you're still liable to pay capital gains tax.

You can monitor your expenses and your earnings in real time on your "Events" page to check if you're making a profit or if you're in the red.

    - Kekos bought using premium-rate services (phone or SMS) or a credit card:

These Kekos are not included in your earnings, which means they are tax-exempt.
Added bonus: each call you make entitles you to a tax credit worth half of the amount you bought.

    Example:
If you buy 45 Kekos, you get a 22.5-Keko tax credit.
If you buy 100 Kekos, you get a 50-Keko tax credit.
This tax credit is automatically deducted from the total amount of taxes (capital gains tax and corporation tax) that you owe.
