    14. Events, taxes and grants - Events, taxes and grants

Every day, external factors outside your control happen. Some may help you, some may hinder you: that's what "events" are. They're drawn at random and you can receive up to one a day but not necessarily every day.
You can't evade an event. You just have to bite the bullet. Only the last 10 events are listed on the page.

A particular event can only happen once a week (once every 7 days).

    The events are:

    - Environmental tax: you lose 8 Kekos.

    - Water treatment tax: you lose 7 Kekos.

    - Silo maintenance fee: you lose 17 Kekos per silo (Level 3, 4 and 5).

    - Slurry pit maintenance fee: you lose 3 Kekos.

    - Barn roof repair fee: you lose 4 Kekos.

    - Livestock building maintenance fee. Level 1 and 2: you lose 3 Kekos per sq.m. The default surface is set to 10 sq.m.
Higher levels: you lose 2 Kekos per sq.m.

    - Slurry machine maintenance fee: you lose 8 Kekos (Level 2, 3, 4, 5).

    - Tractor breakdown and repair costs: you lose 3 Kekos (Level 1).

    - Field flooding caused by subterranean rivers. Your field was seriously damaged and your crop is ruined.
    Protection: sandbags.

    - Heatwave: the heat is so intense that fields catch fire spontaneously. Your field burns down before you can do anything about it and you lose your entire crop.

    - Natural disasters: the countryside is full of weevils, rats, corn borers, crows that can attack your field.
These creatures have the same impact as those bought in the Alley. For more info, please read the Alley FAQ section.

    - Slurry processing grant: you get 7 Kekos.

    - Farming development grant: you get 5 Kekos.

    - Credit voucher on seeds: you get 5 Kekos.

    Events take effect immediately.
If you have more than 200 Kekos, you will not get any grant.

You have to go to the "Events" page to pay your income tax and your electricity bill, which is issued every fortnight, on 1st and 15th of the month.
The "Events" page also includes a summary of the purchases and sales you made at the Funnypigs market,

as well as a mini-statement showing the total amount of your expenses and earnings and your current bank balance:

and a list of current and recent strikes:
