    07. How to care for your pig - How to care for your pig

    Cleaning:
When your pig is dirty (you'll see flies around it), tick the "clean" box and confirm by clicking on "Action". You can clean your pig only once a day and only if it's dirty (note that it doesn't get dirty necessarily every day). Overlooking your pig's hygiene for a few days might lead to its death!
Cleaning your pig costs 2 Kekos. If you have a soap bonus in your barn, you can use it by selecting it in the drop-down menu.

    3 days 2
    4 days 3
    5 days 4
    6 days 8
    7 days 12
    8 days Your pig dies

Weight losses add up and if your pig's weight reaches 0, your pig dies.

    Treatments:
Sometimes your pig gets sick: the green cross becomes red and blinks. It means you must act quickly to treat your pig.
If you have a vet visit bonus in your barn, you can treat your pig for free by selecting the bonus in the drop-down menu.
If you don't have a vet visit bonus, you'll have to pay cash. This option is available in the same drop-down menu (under the cross) where the treatment cost will be indicated.
    The diseases are the following:

Disease Death within Cost without bonus
    Cold 7 or 8 days 2 Kekos
    Gastroentiritis 4 days 8 Kekos
Swine fever 3 days 10 Kekos
    Brucellosis 5 days 5 Kekos
    Flu 6 or 7 days 6 Kekos
Vesicular disease 4 days 6 Kekos
    Diarrhea 4 days 3 Kekos
Foot and mouth disease 6 days 9 Kekos

    Feeding trough:
You fill your pig's trough with the food stored in your barn, from where it'll be directly taken. If you have no food left, you'll have to pay for it. Your pig will get standard food only (cost: 3 Kekos).

Your pig can eat several times a day, but it doesn't empty its trough right after you've filled it. A pig takes about 3 hours to eat it up, depending on its appetite. It basically means that you can fill the trough every 3 hours.
If you don't feed your pig, it'll first loose weight then die.

    WEIGHT GAIN WITH STANDARD FOOD:

    Standard. Possible weight gain: 500g/1kg.

    Wheat. Possible weight gain: 500g/1kg/1,5kg/2kg.

    Corn. Possible weight gain: 500g/1kg/1,5kg.

    Sunflower. Possible weight gain: 1kg/1,5kg/2kg.

    WEIGHT GAIN WITH FORTIFIED FOOD::

Cereal mix (W/S). Wheat and sunflower. Possible weight gain: 2kg/2,5kg/3,5kg.

Cereal mix (W/C). Wheat and corn. Possible weight gain: 2kg/2,5kg/3kg.

Cereal mix (C/S). Corn and sunflower. Possible weight gain: 2kg/2,5kg.

By giving your pig a vitamin pill (see bonus), you make sure it puts on the maximum weight.
You'll find vitamin pills on the market.
By adding straw, you make sure your pig puts on an extra 500g.

You can buy bags of food (standard or fortified) on the market, but beware of the price!

Keep an eye on your pig's weight, too big a loss could be fatal!

If your pig's weight reaches 0, your pig dies.

    Water trough:

Like any being, your pig needs water. You therefore need to give it some water every day. Filling the water trough costs 1 Keko.

    Food works better with water:
    Water + standard food: + 0,2kg
Water + wheat or corn or sunflower: + 0,5kg
    Water + fortified food: + 1kg

    Examples:
    No water + standard food + vitamin + straw = 1,5kg
    Water + standard food + vitamin + straw = 2,5kg
    No water + corn + vitamin + straw = 2kg
    Water + corn + vitamin + straw = 2,5kg
    No water + W/S + vitamin + straw = 4kg
    Water + W/S + vitamin + straw = 4,2kg

    Straw and duckboards:
You can make the ground of your livestock building a bit more comfortable and add some straw or some duckboards (as long as you have some in your barn).
Straw lasts about 4 days, after which time you'll have to change it. Straw increases your pig's well-being, which means it'll put on weight faster (+ 0,5kg per day).

Duckboards allow you to collect more slurry: you actually double the amount of slurry you'd normally get per day.
You can remove your duckboards at any time, but it costs 100 Kekos. You just have to click on the duckboards icon under your pig.

The interface allows you to do several chores simultaneously: cleaning, treating and filling the troughs. Just tick and select the relevant options and click on the "Action" button.

When you're done, you'll get a report at the top of the screen telling you what's been done:

    Slurry pit and slurry machine:
To produce slurry, your pig needs to eat. If you don't feed it, you won't get slurry. A pig produces one litre of slurry each time it eats. If you add duckboards, it'll produce 2 litres.

At Level 2, the slurry pit capacity is increased to 10 litres. If you don't empty it when it's full, the extra slurry you'll get in the meantime will be lost. The cooperative pays 5 Kekos for 1 litre of slurry. Beware of the transport cost though, which is 3 Kekos no matter how many litres you sell.
To sell your slurry, tick the "Empty" box and click on "Action".

On the market you can buy slurry machines, which can turn liquid slurry into dry powder slurry. It can then be stored in bags. A machine can contain up to 5 bags. A bag sale price is 15 Kekos. The transport costs 3 Kekos no matter how many bags there are.
When you own a slurry machine, you no longer pay for the drainage, which costs 3 Kekos.
